The Deer Hunter Petroglyph
| We found this petroglyph in the Agua Fria National Monument, far from any signs of settlement(ruins). My theory is that this was the site of a kill and the hunter left the petroglyph behind to commemorate the event.
The Agua Fria National Monument is north of Phoenix,Arizona and covers 71,000 acres. There are hundreds of indian ruins within the monument and petroglyphs are to be found in the area of most ruins.
The terrain is rugged and the hike is arduous. If you go, do not disturb any ruins or artifacts you might find. Take water. |
